Nepal-Bangladesh trade and tourism are creating new possibilities: Nepal Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Lalita Silwal

A view-sharing meeting titled ‘Enhancing Nepal-Bangladesh Economic Partnership’ was held in Sylhet on Friday (April 10, 2026) evening at the initiative of the Nepal Embassy. The event discussed in detail strengthening economic cooperation, expanding trade and new possibilities between the two countries.

Speaking as the chief guest at the event, the Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission Lalita Silwal said that cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh in the trade, connectivity, energy and tourism sectors is gradually increasing. She highlighted the significant progress in these areas and called on the business community of Sylhet to utilize the opportunities to invest and expand trade in Nepal. At the same time, she emphasized on building meaningful partnerships with Nepali businessmen.

He further said that if mutual cooperation is strengthened, the economic relations of the two countries can reach new heights. Later, he answered various questions of the participants and listened to their concerns and suggestions with great interest.

First Secretary Yojana Bamjon gave a presentation at the event, where the potential sectors of Nepal-Bangladesh economic partnership were highlighted. He especially emphasized on increasing joint ventures in the trade, tourism, energy and connectivity sectors.

Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam said that the development of connectivity is very important to strengthen trade and business relations between Nepal and Bangladesh. He expressed the hope that bilateral trade will further expand if regional connectivity increases.

In addition, the administrator of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the president of Tour Operators Association of Sylhet and representatives of various business organizations spoke at the event.

Representatives of various classes and professions, including top businessmen of Sylhet, travel and tourism entrepreneurs, media workers, participated in the exchange of views.
