A view exchange meeting was held at Wards 6 to 12 of Konabari Metro Police Station in Gazipur-1 constituency at the initiative of Thana BNP to create a public wave in favor of the paddy sheesh symbol in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. The nominated candidate of Dhaner Sheesh in Gazipur-1 constituency and former mayor Md. Mojibur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the event.
Konabari Thana BNP convener Idris Ali and member secretary Babul Ahmed were also present at the event.
While speaking at the view exchange meeting, candidate Md. Mojibur Rahman said, “The party has nominated me for Gazipur-1 constituency to ensure the victory of Dhaner Sheesh. If you really love the party, Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, then unite for the victory of the paddy sheesh, not the individual.”
He alleged that for the past 17 years, BNP leaders and activists have been ‘victims of oppression and torture’. He said, “We have seen elections held during the day and at night, and the government being run twice without the participation of the people. The nation has also witnessed disappearances and murders, the massacre at Shapla Chattar and the shooting of students from helicopters during the July-August movement.”
He further said, “The students and the public have sent that fascist government away from this country. Now a democratic system of governance is going to be established in the country. There is a possibility of an acceptable election in February, where Tarique Rahman is monitoring the party’s nomination process so that no conspiracy can succeed.”
In his speech, he expressed his interest in knowing the sufferings of the leaders and activists and said, “We will make the paddy sheaf victorious in order to fulfill the dream of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. The party nominated me—so if I make any mistake, please correct me and stand by me.”
He made a developmental promise to the locals if he wins the next election, and said,
“I served as the mayor of Kaliakair Municipality from 2004 to 2024. Even with conspiracies, I could not be removed from the people. If you elect me as MP, I will be a peddler of love and keep track of the people of this corner for the next 5 years and work to solve their problems.”
