Korean businessman Kihak Sung awarded honorary citizenship by Bangladesh government

In recognition of his significant contribution to the development of Bangladesh’s industrial sector, massive employment generation and increased foreign income, the Bangladesh government has awarded honorary citizenship to Kihak Sung, chairman of the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) operating company, Yangwon Corporation.

The award was presented to Kihak Sung by Chief Advisor and Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus at a grand event in the capital today, Wednesday (April 9, 2025), on the official opening day of the four-day International Investment Conference.

Kihak Sung said, “I am truly honored to receive honorary citizenship.”

KEPZ continues to play an important role in the economy of Bangladesh as a successful export platform. The zone has provided employment to thousands of people and Yangwon Corporation has set a unique example in the flow of foreign direct investment to Bangladesh.
