JBCCI, ICAB, and FICCI Jointly Host Seminar on Fiscal Priorities for National Budget 2025–26 to Drive Economic Growth

Japan Bangladesh Chamber of commerce and Industry (JBCCI) in collaboration with The Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry(FICCI) hosted a seminar titled “Fiscal Issues for National Budget 2025-26 to Foster Economic and Business Growth” on May 4, 2025 at Hotel Sheraton Dhaka.

The event bought together policymakers, business leaders, and economic experts and provided a platform to discuss key fiscal priorities ahead of the upcoming national budget. The members of JBCCI, ICAB, FICCI and distinguished guests from different organizations in the public and private sector, as well as representatives from various embassies participated in this program and enriched the discussion.

The program commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Shubhashish Bose, CEO of ICAB. A welcome address was delivered by Ms. Maria Howlader FCA, President of ICAB. Speeches were also given by Mr. Zaved Akhtar, President of FICCI, and Mr. Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan Jun, President of JBCCI.

Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, Secretary of the Internal Resources Division and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh (NBR) , attended as the Chief Guest, while ICAB’s Council Member and Past President, Mr. Mohammed Humayun Kabir FCA, chaired the panel session.

The seminar featured insightful keynote presentations from Dr. M Masrur Reaz , Chairman of Policy Exchange Bangladesh, and Mr. Snehasish Barua FCA, Partner at Snehasish Mahmud & Co., Chartered Accountants. The PowerPoint presentations were very well received by the Chief Guest and panelists, and is available upon request from JBCCI.

The seminar also featured an engaging panel discussion with industry leaders and past regulators, including Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury, CEO of Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh Limited; Mr. Manabu Sugawara, Country Head of Bangladesh at Marubeni Corporation; Mr. Yuji Ando, Joint Secretary General of JBCCI; Dr. Abdul Mannan Shikder, Former Member of NBR; and Mr. Md. Afzal Hossain, Former Secretary to the Government.
