Diplomatic Desk:
The High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Bangladesh Bank at the central bank’s headquarters on Tuesday (September 22, 2026).
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral economic, trade, and financial relations between Bangladesh and India. The Governor urged India to increase imports from Bangladesh to help improve the trade balance.

Additionally, the Governor expressed interest in expanding the use of ‘Bangla QR’ and cross-border digital payments, as well as in leveraging India’s experience and potential technical cooperation in this sector.
When the Indian High Commissioner emphasized the need to further facilitate foreign investment, the Governor noted that Bangladesh Bank has already adopted several investment-friendly policy initiatives, enabling foreign investors to easily repatriate their invested capital and profits. He called for increased Indian investment in Bangladesh’s technology-driven, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.
Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Pawankumar Badhe and Second Secretary (Economic and Commerce) Mr. Gourab Kumar Agarwal accompanied the Indian High Commissioner at the meeting.
Deputy Governors Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman and Md. Sarwar Hossain were present alongside the Governor representing Bangladesh Bank.
