If corruption is stopped, the country will move forward – Home Affairs and Agriculture Adviser

Home and Agriculture Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that corruption is the biggest obstacle to the development of our country. And the biggest victims of corruption are the poor farmers. So corruption must be stopped. Corruption must be hated. Corruption will diminish the contribution to the country. If corruption is stopped, the country will move forward.

The advisor said these things in the afternoon of Tuesday (November 19, 2024) at the farm house in Agrabadsha of Chittagong city, at the Chittagong regional office of the Department of Agriculture Extension, in an exchange meeting with officials of the Chittagong region of the departments under the Ministry of Agriculture.

The advisor said, the Ministry of Agriculture has the most educated and doctorate degree officers. Their contribution to agriculture and the overall development of the country is the most. During the war of independence our population was 75 crores. Now it has increased to 17-18 crores. However, due to the effective role of agricultural scientists and agricultural officers, we have become self-sufficient in food due to the increase in agricultural production. For that, the agriculture officials deserve to be thanked.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that the Ministry of Agriculture is doing very well. But they also have some bad names. There are also questions about some of the projects undertaken. Therefore, projects that are truly beneficial to the farmer must be taken up. The adviser said that the manpower of the Ministry of Agriculture is the highest at the union level. Many of them are doing good work at the field level. There are others who do not provide advice to farmers at the right time. In this regard, the senior officers should be more alert and cautious and take necessary measures.

In the exchange of views, the advisory officers were apprised of the various problems and assured of full cooperation in solving them.

At the meeting, Additional Secretary (Research) of the Ministry of Agriculture. Abu Zubair Hossain Bablu, Additional Director of Chittagong Regional Office of Agriculture Extension Department Mohang Nashir Uddin, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam and senior officials of Chittagong region of the departments under the Ministry of Agriculture were present.
