Home Ministry provides Tk 5 lakh assistance to firefighter Nayan’s family

The Home Ministry has provided Tk 5 lakh assistance to the family of firefighter Md. Swanur Zaman Nayan (24), who died in hospital after being hit by a truck while on duty in a fire accident at the Secretariat.

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) handed over a cash grant of Tk 5 (five) lakh to Nayan’s father Md. Akhtaruzzaman at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Monday (January 06, 2025) afternoon.

Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Nasimul Gani, Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department Brigadier General Zahed Kamal, Nayan’s only sister Seema Akhter and her family members were present during the donation.

Earlier, the family of the deceased Nayan (on 26 December 2024) was provided with a cash assistance of 1 (one) lakh taka and another 50 thousand taka for burial expenses by the Fire Service and Civil Defense Department.

It is to be noted that the village home of firefighter Md. Swanur Zaman Nayan is in Atpunia village, Barabala Union No. 11, Mithapukur Upazila, Rangpur district.
