Home Affairs Advisor visits four police stations in Dhaka early in the morning

Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) visited four police stations (Tejgaon, Dhanmondi, Shahbagh and New Market) in the capital early in the morning today, Monday (March 10, 2025).

During the visit to the police stations, the advisor visited the reception room, detention center and ancillary facilities of the police stations. He spoke to the duty officers and members of the law enforcement agencies on duty and provided necessary directions. During this time, he instructed the members of the law enforcement agencies to be more active, vigilant and alert in performing their duties.

Along the way, he visited several check posts/checkpoints set up at various important intersections of the capital and spoke to the officers in charge. In addition, he monitored the activities of several patrol teams of the joint forces.

Responding to questions from journalists present at the time, the advisor said that the government is determined to maintain the law and order situation normal during Ramadan. To this end, more than a hundred checkpoints/checkposts have been set up at important points in the capital and the number of patrols has been increased in crime-prone areas. Officials at various levels of the Ministry of Home Affairs have been given regular responsibility to monitor the night-time activities of these checkpoints and patrol teams.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that those who are creating a mob situation in an organized manner; those who are committing theft, robbery, kidnapping, extortion; those who are deteriorating the law and order situation through various types of criminal activities including rape, women and child abuse, will be brought under the law and strict punishment will be ensured through the trial process. No one will be given any exemption. He ordered the law and order forces to be stricter to prevent various crimes and activities that disrupt law and order.

The Home Affairs Advisor said that the inspection is to see whether the police stations are functioning properly during Ramadan, whether the law enforcement officers are alert and vigilant, and whether they are performing their duties properly.
