Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that the current government’s goal is to fulfill the short-term expectations of the people along with the long-term plans.
He said this during a courtesy call on the members of the board of directors of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at his office at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday (February 26, 2026) afternoon.

The minister said that the main priority of the current government is to ensure a favorable environment for business and trade by controlling the law and order situation in the country and maintaining stability. At the same time, keeping the market situation normal by controlling the prices of goods is also one of the government’s priorities.
He said that the government is working to ensure that the prices of goods do not increase artificially and that the syndicate that has been in existence for 10-15 years can be broken. He also mentioned that instead of traditional methods, the security of business and commerce will be ensured through new and creative ways.
Regarding the restoration of order in the transport sector, the minister said that necessary steps will be taken across the country, including the eradication of extortion. In the first phase, this activity will start from the divisional and big cities. He commented that coordinated cooperation of the administration, police and all concerned is required in this regard.
In the meeting, DCCI President Taskin Ahmed sought the cooperation of the minister to improve the law and order situation, prevent extortion and restore order in the transport sector.
At that time, DCCI Senior Vice President Rajib H Chowdhury, Vice President Md. Salem Solaiman, Secretary Dr. AKM Asaduzzaman Patwary and other leaders were present.
