State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said that the BNP government is taking effective and visible steps to implement the commitments that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented to the nation before the elections, within just two months of assuming office.
The State Minister said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the two-day Poetry Festival organized at the Tangail Club on Thursday (April 23, 2026).
The State Minister said that the government has already started implementing each program step by step as per the election promises, including the introduction of salary and allowances for imams and muezzins, the introduction of family cards and farmer cards, the waiver of farmers’ loans and the digging of canals.
He also said that literature plays a unique role in shaping the mindset of a nation; and poetry awakens the humanity and values in people. He expressed his hope to build Tangail with everyone’s cooperation. He also assured that maximum efforts will be made to eliminate unemployment in Tangail.
The poetry festival was inaugurated by freedom fighter poet Bulbul Khan Mahbub. The function was presided over by poet Mahmud Kamal, general secretary of Tangail General Library.
