French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet paid a courtesy call on Environment, Forests, Climate Change and Water Resources Advisor Sayeda Rizwana Hassan at the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 25, 2025).

During the meeting, they discussed various issues including the recent outcomes of COP30, France’s increasing support to Bangladesh in the field of climate adaptation, and joint initiatives in environmental protection.
Ambassador Séré-Charlet said that Bangladesh is an important partner in addressing the impacts of climate change and France is committed to enhancing cooperation in the long term. He described the recent agreement of a €3 million grant to support the Forest Department in Sundarbans conservation as a “milestone initiative” that will strengthen the capacity to protect the world’s largest mangrove forest.
