Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (February 22, 2026).
During the meeting, Ambassador Yao Wen congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the landslide victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the general elections. He described the elections as one of the freest and fairest in the country’s history. He also congratulated Dr. Khalilur Rahman on assuming the charge of Foreign Minister.
Ambassador Yao Wen expressed China’s strong support for the ‘Bangladesh First’ policy announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He said that the Chinese Prime Minister is keen to work closely with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to further deepen bilateral cooperation.
Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman emphasized the importance of advancing the Bangladesh-China ‘Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership’. He sought China’s more active engagement with all parties concerned for a speedy and sustainable resolution of the Rohingya crisis.
At the same time, Ambassador Yao Wen, on behalf of the Chinese Foreign Minister, invited Dr. Khalilur Rahman to visit China at a convenient time.
