Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said, we will cherish, maintain and increase the political harmony of Sylhet day by day. The work we will do for Sylhet is not the personal work of anyone, but a group work.
The minister said, if the Sylhet-Dhaka highway is renovated, not an individual, but the entire Sylhet will benefit; if the water problem in Sylhet is solved, not an individual, but the entire Sylhet will benefit. Therefore, we will all work together to take Sylhet forward.
The minister said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the Doa and Iftar Mahfil organized by the District and Metropolitan BNP in honor of political leaders at the Food Paradise Restaurant in Sylhet city on Saturday (February 21, 2026).
Regarding Sylhet’s development plan, the minister said, “We will fulfill the promises we made during the election campaign and the plan we presented to you in the next five years to the letter.” He also mentioned that all the work to improve the quality of life in Sylhet will be visible in the coming days.
Describing the Ministry of Commerce as a very challenging ministry, the minister further said, “Keeping commodity prices stable is one of the tasks of our ministry. This time, we have taken charge a day before Ramadan. However, there is no reason to worry about the amount of food stocks and supply of consumer goods. Basically, import-dependent consumer goods, which are used more during Ramadan, are at a stable level.”
At this time, he mentioned strengthening market monitoring and monitoring of consumer rights to keep the market stable.
Leaders of various political parties including Member of Parliament Emran Ahmed Chowdhury were present at the prayer and iftar mahfil.
