FBCCI urges business community to keep the commodity market stable

Administrator of FBCCI, Md. Hafizur Rahman, urged the traders to make reasonable profit to keep the market of daily products stable.

On Thursday (October 17, 2024), he made this call at a discussion meeting organized with retail and wholesale traders of daily necessities including eggs, broiler chickens, onions, potatoes at the Motijheel office of FBCCI. FBCCI administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman presided over the meeting.

At this time, Md. Hafizur Rahman urged to reduce the step of changing hands in the supply system to keep the prices of daily products within the reach of consumers.

In the welcome speech at the meeting, the administrator of FBCCI said that due to natural calamities including floods, the prices of daily commodities have increased. But now the commodity prices have increased abnormally, which has made the consumers uncomfortable. We have heard of goods changing hands at several stages in the supply chain. The business community needs to work together on how to get the product to the consumer at a reasonable price by reducing unnecessary handovers.

Abdul Jabbar Mandal, Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, said that the price of eggs and other daily necessities in the market has started to decrease due to the various steps taken by the government. He mentioned that the supply crisis has also started to decrease.

Retail and wholesale traders of daily necessities, leaders of various market associations, market analysts and government officials also spoke in the exchange meeting.

Retail and wholesale traders urged the producers and corporate institutions to maintain normal supply of daily commodities including eggs, chicken, onions, potatoes in the market to keep the prices under control.

FBCCI Secretary General Md Alamgir, Director of Bangladesh Competition Commission Dr. Urmi Binte Salam, Organizing Secretary of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) Syed Mizanur Rahman, Vice President of Shyambazar Agricultural Products Aart Vanik Samiti Haji Md Majed, General Secretary of Karwan Bazar Wholesale Market Aart Malik Samiti Md Saifur Rahman Chowdhury and other business leaders.
