FBCCI provides food and relief items to flood victims

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the top organization of businessmen, has participated in the relief supply program of students to stand by the helpless people affected by floods in various areas of the country including Comilla, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong.

On Tuesday (August 27, 2024) night, FBCCI provided dry food, pure water, food saline, water purification tablets and other necessary goods in the student relief program at Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center (TSC). Besides, necessary commodities including rice, dal, oil, spices have been provided for the mass cooking program led by the students in the flood affected areas.

In a press release, FBCCI President Mr. Mahbubul Alam said that it is the moral responsibility of businessmen to stand beside the flood-affected people of the country. The young students have come forward with the conviction of ensuring equal rights for all and building a country without discrimination, has energized the countrymen. He said that as a representative of the private sector, FBCCI will stand by the distressed people of the country in the future as in the past.

FBCCI Vice President Md. Munir Hossain, Director Mir Nizamuddin, Nizamuddin Rajesh, Khandaker Ruhul Amin, Ishaqul Islam Sweet, Shahidul Haque Mollah and other business leaders.

It is to be noted that several districts including Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong have been inundated by heavy rains and water coming down from upstream. Houses, roads, crops and many businesses have been submerged. Millions of people have been affected in the flood affected areas. Although the flood situation has already improved in some areas, severe food shortages have emerged. In such a situation, the business community has urged to extend a helping hand from their respective locations in support of the flood victims. From the point of humanity and social responsibility, FBCCI and the business community are also playing an important role in helping the flood victims.
