Home and Agriculture Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that false cases have increased. Under no circumstances can a false case be taken. If anyone does, he should be brought under the law.
The adviser said these things in a meeting regarding the overall law and order situation at Sylhet Circuit House on Tuesday (26 November 2024).

The advisor said, whatever he says, work should be done to maintain law and order. Many problems and criticisms have to be faced in order to work. Everyone has to consider the circumstances under which you are starting work. Work has to be done whether anyone appreciates it or not.
The adviser said that extortion is also responsible for the increase in the prices of daily necessities. Extortion must be stopped with a strong hand.
The advisor said that recruitment in the police has become transparent in recent times This trend should be continued. Recruitment and posting trade will not be tolerated.
The adviser said the operation to recover illegal weapons should be strengthened. The adviser also asked the law enforcement agencies to be vigilant about mob justice.
The adviser said that if the top terrorists indulged in crimes again after coming out of the legal process, they should be brought under the law.
Pointing out that the situation has improved with the joint efforts of all forces to control crime in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur, the adviser said that if everyone works together, good results will be obtained. Those who have information about crimes will help others with it.
The adviser said that extortion and harassment with false cases should be stopped. Those who work with good intentions are not involved in these.
People’s confidence in police and RAB should be restored. If there is any resentment, it should be reduced by treating people better.
Adviser to the law and order forces said that no one can be arrested in white clothes. If someone wants to know the identity, they have to show proper proof. No one can be arrested without reason. Don’t obey someone who gives illegal orders.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Sylhet along with senior officers of armed forces, district, upazila administration and various departments under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
