Europe-Bangladesh trade to deepen further: German Ambassador

Diplomatic Desk:

The German Embassy Dhaka hosted an economic reception on Thursday (April 16) attended by top representatives of German companies operating in Bangladesh.

The event featured a detailed discussion on the country’s current economic situation, investment climate and future prospects. Asian Development Bank economist Chandan Sapkota highlighted the key challenges and prospects facing the Bangladeshi economy.

The discussion highlighted that despite some recent economic pressures, Bangladesh has maintained its position as one of the fastest growing economies in South Asia. The speakers opined that there is still significant opportunity for investment, especially in the private sector.

Speaking at the event, German Ambassador Achim Troester Lotz highlighted the importance of Bangladesh’s trade relations with Europe. He said that Europe is Bangladesh’s largest export market and the aim is to further expand European business engagement in the future.

It is hoped that the event will play an important role in increasing German investment in Bangladesh and further strengthening bilateral economic relations.
