Elections will be held on time, it cannot be stopped by violence: New Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Syeda Rizwana Hasan

The new advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Syeda Rizwana Hasan held a meeting with officials at the Secretariat on the first day of assuming office. While talking to reporters after the meeting, she clearly stated that the national parliament elections will be held on time despite all kinds of attempts to create violence and intimidation.

She said these things in the meeting room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Secretariat this Sunday morning. Regarding the recent attack targeting Osman Hadi, the coordinator of the July mass uprising, she said that the government is making maximum efforts to identify and arrest the attackers. According to her, the main purpose of such attacks is to weaken the election process and create panic among the people.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that the media has always played an important role in the practice of democracy. However, he also commented that there was some disruption in that continuity during the July Movement. He stressed that the free flow of information must be objective and accurate; presenting distorted or fragmented information is in no way acceptable.

The new advisor also said that the government wants to see a strong, responsible and people-oriented media, which will play an effective role in protecting the rights of the people and establishing democratic values.
