Mr. Yao Wen, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Md. Ismail Zabiullah—a member of the BNP National Standing Committee and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Public Administration (with the rank of Minister)—at the Adviser’s office in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (September 20, 2026). Discussions during the meeting focused on enhancing mutual communication and advancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Adviser welcomed the outgoing Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Yao Wen, with flowers and exchanged pleasantries. They subsequently exchanged views on various aspects of the bilateral relationship.
The Public Administration Adviser stated that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its long-standing, friendly, and trust-based relationship with China. China is one of Bangladesh’s major trade and investment partners. Beyond trade and investment, cooperation between the two nations has expanded into various sectors, including education, technology, human resource development, administration, and knowledge exchange. He noted that China’s cooperation is vital for Bangladesh’s sustainable development. He added that mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of the two countries could be further deepened through joint research, the exchange of technology and skills, and increased cultural interaction.
During the farewell meeting with Public Administration Adviser Md. Ismail Zabiullah, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen remarked that relations between Bangladesh and China have strengthened following recent visits to China by delegations from various levels in Bangladesh. He specifically mentioned that the Bangladesh-China relationship reached new heights after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s visit to China.
Ambassador Yao Wen suggested that, to further bolster Bangladesh-China friendship, a structured, specific, and well-planned training program could be organized in Bangladesh under the initiative of the ‘China-Bangladesh Friendship Society.’ This program would offer training opportunities for leaders from various political parties in Bangladesh, thereby enhancing communication and mutual understanding between the political parties of both nations.
The Ambassador also highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Communist Party of China and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), emphasizing the importance of further increasing cooperation between the two parties.
Relevant officials from the Chinese Embassy were present at the meeting.
