Diplomatic Desk:
The Ambassadors of Italy and the European Union (EU) to Bangladesh visited Gazipur and Tongi to observe firsthand the progress made in the country’s advanced bicycle manufacturing and high-tech garment industries. During the visit, they witnessed advancements in technology, skills, and sustainable innovation within Bangladesh’s industrial sector.
During their tour of Gazipur and Tongi, they inspected various operations related to advanced bicycle manufacturing and the high-tech garment industry. Aspects such as the use of modern technology, skills development, and enhancing competitiveness in the international market were highlighted.

Although bicycles and ready-made garments are distinct sectors, maintaining a competitive edge in the global market requires continuous investment in skills, knowledge, and technology in both fields. It was noted during the visit that Bangladeshi industrial enterprises are steadily enhancing their capabilities in these areas.
Notably, the Ha-Meem Group is setting an example by expanding into European markets while simultaneously boosting production capacity through sustainable innovation. At the same time, partnerships between European and Bangladeshi companies are opening doors to new business opportunities.

A significant example of this is the joint venture between the German bicycle manufacturer CUBE and the Meghna Group. Through this partnership, high-quality bicycles are being manufactured in Bangladesh and exported to international markets.
The evolving nature of the economic partnership between Bangladesh and Europe was also a key focus during the visit. This partnership is expanding beyond mere trade in goods to encompass joint ventures, innovation, technology transfer, and entry into new markets.
