China-Bangladesh talks on strengthening cooperation in power and energy sectors

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hassan Mahmud Tuku and State Minister for Energy Anindya Islam Amit.

The meeting held on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) discussed in detail the strengthening of economic and trade cooperation between China and Bangladesh. In particular, emphasis was placed on increasing cooperation between the two countries in the power and energy sectors.

In the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the possibilities of expanding power generation, energy infrastructure development, and investment and technical cooperation in related sectors.

China is working as an important partner in the development of Bangladesh’s energy and power sectors. The meeting expressed optimism about further strengthening the existing cooperation in the mutual interests of the two countries.
