Honorable Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr. Muhammad Yunus formally inaugurated the ‘Navy and Air Force Selection Board-2025’ at the Navy Headquarters today, Sunday (03-08-2025). Through this ceremony organized at the Navy Headquarters, the formal process of promotion of officers from Navy Captain to Commodore, Commander to Captain and Lieutenant Commander to Commander and Air Force Group Captain to Air Commodore, Wing Commander to Group Captain and Squadron Leader to Wing Commander began. This board, consisting of military officers at the highest policy-making level, will select qualified and skilled officers for the future senior leadership of the Navy and Air Force, subject to the approval of the government. At the beginning of the program, a minute of silence was observed in memory of those who died in the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Election Board-2025, the Honorable Chief Advisor remembered with deep respect the heroic members of the armed forces who sacrificed themselves in the great Liberation War of 1971, the heroic freedom fighters of all classes and professions, and all the martyrs who sacrificed themselves in the mass uprising of the students and the public in July-August 2024. He recalled the glorious history, struggle and heroism of the Bangladesh Navy and Air Force, and highly praised their spontaneous participation in dealing with natural disasters during peacetime and in national needs. In addition, in protecting the sovereignty of the country and in various crises; He appreciated and congratulated the members of the Navy and Air Force for standing by the people of the country in the security crisis of the country, especially after the mass uprising of the student population in July-August 2024, maintaining law and order, participating in development and service work in nation-building, and earning the love and absolute trust of the people of the country. The Honorable Chief Advisor gave instructions on achieving economic prosperity through the conservation and exploitation of the country’s marine resources, the contribution of the Bangladesh Navy in the management of the deep sea port, the economic center of the future, and building the necessary skilled human resources for the overall development of the blue economy. In addition, he highlighted the various activities underway to develop the country’s blue economy, the establishment of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA), the development of the coastal region, and various steps taken for the overall development of the country, and mentioned the contribution of the Navy and Air Force in this regard. The Honorable Chief Advisor also emphasized the important contribution of the Navy and the Air Force to the development of the country’s education system, the role of the two forces in serving and protecting the motherland, and above all, the modernization of the armed forces. He expressed hope that the Navy and the Air Force will continue this trend of standing by the people in any state crisis and disaster while upholding the country’s constitution. Finally, he gave appropriate instructions to the Election Board for the selection of patriotic, talented, skilled, professional, honest, humane and morally qualified officers under the leadership of the Bangladesh Navy and the Air Force.

When the Honorable Chief Advisor reached the venue, Chief of the Navy Admiral M. Nazmul Hasan, OSP, NPP, NDC, NCC, PSC and Chief of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud, BBP, OSP, GUP, NSWC, PSC welcomed the Honorable Chief Advisor. At the ceremony organized on the occasion of the Election Board, the Chief of the Navy and the Chief of the Air Force expressed their sincere gratitude and thanks to the Honorable Chief Advisor for his kind presence at the Election Board despite being busy with work. They expressed their firm belief that the involvement and guidance of the Honorable Chief Advisor in the selection of the future leadership of the Navy and the Air Force has increased the enthusiasm and morale of the Navy and Air Force members. In addition, under the valuable guidance of the Honorable Chief Advisor, the Chiefs of the Service expressed their firm determination to build an efficient force by selecting competent and suitable officers in the Navy and Air Force based on the criteria of patriotism, professional skills, humanitarian and leadership qualities.
The concerned military and civilian senior officers were present at the inauguration ceremony of the Election Board of the Navy and the Air Force. At the end of the ceremony, the Honorable Chief Advisor planted a tree on the premises of the Navy Headquarters and wished for the prosperity of the Navy, Air Force and Bangladesh.
