Canadian High Commissioner visits icddr,b: Praises groundbreaking contributions to global health

Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Ajit Singh recently visited the internationally renowned research institute icddr,b. He was accompanied by the institute’s Executive Director, Dr. Tahmid Ahmed, one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential global health leaders, and his talented research and healthcare team.

During the visit, High Commissioner Ajit Singh praised the icddr,b’s unforgettable contributions and innovations. Since 1978, Canada has been investing in icddr,b, through which more than 300,000 poor people are receiving affordable and improved healthcare every year. The institute’s innovations such as preventing child malnutrition, treating cholera and life-threatening dehydration are being used not only in Bangladesh but also in other developing and developed countries around the world.

Recognizing the groundbreaking research being carried out by ICDDR,B, Canada recently provided an additional $15 million (approximately $15 million) in funding, which is expected to support new innovations and further expand the scope of medical services.
