BRAC University has officially welcomed the new students admitted for the Fall 2025 semester. The orientation was held at the university’s Merul Badda campus on Monday (6 October 2025). BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Farhat Anwar welcomed the new students on behalf of the university. Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen was present as the chief guest at the event.

In his speech as the chief guest, Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen said, your generation has shown a dream of building Bangladesh in a new way – the foundation of which is good governance, human development, justice and development. I believe that you can make Bangladesh truly prosperous. He said, “You have shown that, I believe you can.” He called on the students to follow the life and philosophy of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed.

While welcoming the new students, BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Farhat Anwar advised the students to be responsible towards the country, nation and society. He said, we all have to work together for the welfare of humanity. That is why the Creator has sent us to this world. He also advised the students to reduce their dependence on the internet and artificial intelligence indiscriminately.
He said, now whenever we need to know something, we go to the internet. There is a lot of false information on the internet. We should increase our own and others’ knowledge through mutual discussion, education and understanding. He further said, “We are all unique. We all need to find our unique qualities and work towards the betterment of society through them.

The orientation program introduced the students to the rich history of BRAC University and the philosophy of education of its founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed through audio-visuals. Along with this, BRAC University’s commitment to quality education was highlighted by informing everyone about various aspects of the university, including various facilities, residential semesters, club activities.
Four students were awarded at the ceremony. Farha Hasan Preeti, a student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, was honored for leading the BRACU Alter team and becoming the champion of ‘Idea Innovation 5.0’. Nafim Karim Khan, a student of the same department, was honored for being selected as one of the eight Bangladeshi university students who won the ‘Huawei Seeds for the Future 2025 Bangladesh’ program. Ratul Hasan and Taznia Tabassum, students of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Anon was awarded for being the second runner-up in the ‘BD Apps Innovation Summit 2025’.
Registrar Dr. David Dowland welcomed the students to BRAC University through a video message at the orientation. Other speakers at the event included Professor Samia Haque, Dean of the School of General Education, Proctor Dr. Rubana Ahmed, and Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, Dean of the BSRM School of Engineering. The event was moderated by Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director of Student Life. Dance performances were performed by students of the university’s student club “Manon”. The orientation program concluded with a delightful cultural program.
