UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Khasif Al Hamoudi paid a courtesy call on the Bangladesh Foreign Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (February 24, 2026). The meeting emphasized the importance of further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations and growing strategic partnership between Bangladesh and the UAE.
The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the greetings of the UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. He said that Bangladesh is committed to upgrading the bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic and economic partnership under the ‘Bangladesh First Policy’.
The meeting emphasized the need to expedite the ongoing negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). In addition, discussions were held on enhancing cooperation in the trade, energy, infrastructure development and public-private partnership (PPP) sectors.
The Foreign Minister thanked the UAE government for providing shelter and employment opportunities to nearly 1.2 million Bangladeshi expatriates in the UAE. He called for the resumption of labor visas and the facilitation of visa procedures, including business and transit visas, to further enhance people-to-people contacts and economic engagement between the two countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest and strengthen people-to-people ties.

Earlier, the UAE Ambassador also paid a courtesy call on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam. The Minister of State emphasized the need for high-level visits and regular meetings of existing bilateral platforms to further advance bilateral relations, so that new opportunities can be identified and cooperation can be expanded.
