Discussions were held regarding the further strengthening of cooperation between Bangladesh and Algeria across various sectors, including energy, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, trade, investment, agriculture, shipbuilding, and people-to-people contact.
On Sunday (September 20, 2026), Abdelwahab Saidani, the Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Humayun Kabir, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Algerian Ambassador congratulated Humayun Kabir on assuming the role of State Minister for Foreign Affairs. Both sides exchanged views on various aspects of further strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Algeria.
The State Minister reaffirmed the long-standing friendly relations and growing cooperation between the two nations. He urged the Ambassador to enhance cooperation in the energy sector to ensure Bangladesh’s long-term energy security.
The meeting also covered potential areas of cooperation such as trade and investment, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, shipbuilding, and fostering greater people-to-people contact.
The State Minister placed special emphasis on increasing cooperation in the fertilizer sector to ensure food security in Bangladesh. He also highlighted the need to further enhance people-to-people ties and exchange high-level visits to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
In response, the Algerian Ambassador expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation with Bangladesh in various fields, including energy, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, shipbuilding, maritime shipping lines, and high-level visits.
Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening Bangladesh-Algeria relations by expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
