Bangladesh Accreditation Board working to control the quality of safe food and health services in the country – Industry Advisor

Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said that strict quality control management is needed to ensure safe food and health services. For this purpose, the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) is working to build consumer confidence by providing accreditation certificates to existing food and health service organizations in the country.

He also said that small and medium enterprises are the backbone and main driving force of the economy. This sector has a major contribution to employment creation and GDP. Accreditation certificates are playing an important role in increasing the capacity of the SME sector, ensuring quality standards and strengthening their competitiveness in the global market.

The Industry Advisor said that BAB has so far awarded accreditation certificates to a total of 155 organizations, including 90 testing laboratories, 22 calibration laboratories, 09 medical laboratories, 30 inspection organizations and 04 certification organizations. In addition, it has provided training to 2,893 people working in various organizations in the country to establish quality management.

The Industry Advisor said this at a discussion program organized by the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) on the occasion of World Accreditation Day 2025 at the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday (July 10, 2025).

The discussion program, chaired by Secretary of the Ministry of Industries Md. Obaidur Rahman, was also attended by FBCCI Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman, BIM Director General Dr. Khandaker Azizul Islam and SME Foundation MD Anwar Hossain Chowdhury. BAB Director General MA Kamal Billah delivered the welcome address.

This year, the theme of ‘World Accreditation Day 2025’ has been set as “Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).’ The keynote address was delivered by Fahim Bin Asmat, Deputy General Manager of SME Foundation. Representatives from the Ministry of Industry, government and non-government organizations, experts in the quality and accreditation sector, trade organizations, and representatives from the industry and business sectors were also present at the event.
