Automobile, Agro-Machinery, and Light Engineering Sectors Showcase Bangladesh’s Industrial Potential – Industry Advisor

Industry Advisor Mr. Adilur Rahman Khan has said that the automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors are demonstrating the potential and capacity of Bangladesh’s industrial sector.

He noted that these sectors are among the government’s priority areas, playing a vital role in export diversification, employment generation, and overall economic growth.

Mr. Khan made these remarks while inaugurating the two-day fair titled “Automobiles and Agro-Machinery Fair 2025 – Road to Made in Bangladesh” at Tejgaon, Dhaka on Saturday (20 September 2025).

The Industry Advisor emphasized that such fairs will boost investor confidence and open new avenues for business opportunities. He added, “The government aims to establish the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand as a global symbol of excellence. To achieve this, we must focus on expanding manufacturing-based industries, promoting technology transfer, encouraging research and innovation, and building a skilled workforce.”

Special Guest, Industry Secretary Mr. Md. Obaidur Rahman, said in his remarks that the automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors are making a significant contribution to the country’s development. He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Industries is working to build an industrially advanced Bangladesh and develop skilled human resources.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Mr. Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury Parvez, President of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI). Also present were Mr. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation; Dr. M. Abu Yusuf; agro-technology entrepreneur Mr. Alimuzzaman Chowdhury; and Mr. Abdur Razzak.

In the seminar, the keynote paper was presented by Dr. M. Masrur Riaz, who highlighted, with data and analysis, the current status, growth trajectory, and future priorities of the automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors.

Following the inauguration, Industry Advisor Mr. Adilur Rahman Khan visited different stalls of the fair and exchanged views with the participating entrepreneurs.
