Ansar performed duty properly in adverse conditions: Home Affairs Adviser

Interior Advisor Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that after the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5, the police and other law enforcement forces were in a hostile situation, the Ansars have properly performed the duties assigned to them at that time. At that time they played an important role in the security of embassies, airports and various financial institutions. For that they undoubtedly deserve to be applauded and praised.

The adviser said these things while addressing the durbar organized for the officers of 19 Ansar Battalion located in Nowhata of Paba Upazila of Rajshahi on Sunday (October 20, 2024) morning.

The adviser said that various problems of the affiliated Ansars have been resolved. Both the battalion and the attached Ansar are performing their duties properly. He also gave instructions to better fulfill the responsibilities assigned to them in the future.

Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) said that the law and order situation is not very satisfactory but is improving. There is room for further improvement in the law and order situation. Ansar forces also have important responsibilities there.

The adviser said that one of the reasons for the increase in commodity prices is the floods in Comilla, Feni and Noakhali in the south-eastern part of the country and the ongoing flood situation in Mymensingh and Sherpur. He said, Comilla is one of the largest vegetable producing districts in the country. The price of vegetables has increased as the production has been damaged due to floods.

Earlier, the adviser visited Nowhata and Kharkhari markets of Rajshahi metropolis. There he inquired about the prices of various products. He advised the businessmen present to be careful so that there are no syndicates and extortion in the market. Moreover, if someone extorts, he advises to inform the law enforcement immediately.

Moreover, the adviser visited the regional fertilizer depot of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) located in Amchattar of Rajshahi metropolis.
