China Ambassador Yao Wen Attends Joint Symposium for Yunnan Renewable Energy Enterprises Delegation

On Sunday (22 December, 2024) Mr. Yao Wen, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh attended the Joint Symposium for the Yunnan Renewable Energy Enterprises Delegation during its visit to Bangladesh. Prof. Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and Ministry of Railways, as well as the leader of the delegation, Mr. Ma Zuoxin, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, accompanied by representatives from Chinese power and energy companies operating in Bangladesh and officials from the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) were present at the event.

The two sides had in-depth exchanges on further strengthening the economic and trade ties between Yunnan Province and Bangladesh and deepening cooperation in the field of renewable energy between China and Bangladesh.

Ambassador Yao said in his speech that the symposium was of great significance. It was the Chinese side’s active response to the initiative of Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus to encourage Chinese companies to increase investment in Bangladesh’s renewable energy industry. It was also the largest foreign business delegation since the establishment of the Bangladeshi interim government. It shows that Chinese companies are full of confidence in Bangladesh’s economic prospects, and once again demonstratesthat China’s determination to support and help Bangladesh’s economic development would not change.

Ambassador Yao pointed out that since the establishment of the interim government, more than ten Chinese companies have signed investment agreements with Bangladesh, with a total investment of USD 180 million. It is believed that through today’s symposium, China-Bangladesh cooperation in the field of renewable energy will achieve greater breakthroughs and will surely attract more Chinese companies to invest in this fieldin Bangladesh.
