Air Chief calls for maintaining discipline and professionalism in UN peacekeeping mission

A total of 62 members of the Bangladesh Air Force’s Aviation Transport Unit BANATU-15 contingent are being replaced in the UN peacekeeping mission MONUSCO deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This contingent will take over the responsibilities of the previous BANATU-14 unit.

On this occasion, on Tuesday (January 20, 2026), Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, BBP, OSP, GUP, NSWC, PSC, delivered a directional speech to the members of the BANATU-15 contingent going to Congo at the Air Force Headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment.

In his speech, the Air Chief stressed on maintaining discipline, honesty, professionalism and sincerity in performing duties in the UN peacekeeping mission. At the same time, he urged the contingent members to bring good name to Bangladesh Air Force and the country in the international arena. Finally, he participated in a special prayer organized for the overall success of the mission.

Principal Staff Officers of the Air Force, Air Commanders in Dhaka and senior officers of the Air Headquarters and Bases were present at the event.

It is to be noted that a C-130B transport aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force and various ground support equipment are currently deployed in the MONUSCO United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The BANATU-15 contingent will be led by Group Captain Mohammad Salim Javed, BUP, PSC.

On January 25, 2026, 35 members of the contingent will depart for the Democratic Republic of Congo from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. The remaining 27 members will leave for Congo on February 2, 2026.
