Nepali Ambassador Emphasizes Youth Power in Bangladesh-Nepal Joint Initiative

Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari has emphasized the importance of building a secure, inclusive and sustainable future through the use of the “youth dividend”.

He said this while addressing the chief guest at a seminar jointly organized by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and the Department of Global Studies and Governance of the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 30, 2025).

Ambassador Bhandari said that the ‘youth bulge’ existing in Nepal and Bangladesh has created a huge potential. There is a need to empower this young population and develop them as drivers of transformative change to strengthen national development and bilateral relations.

He also said that youth participation in policymaking, development activities, digital innovation, climate programs and social justice is increasing significantly. To sustain this trend, it is essential to ensure innovative thinking and institutional support for young entrepreneurs.

Ambassador Bhandari, in the context of the upcoming graduation of both countries from the Least Developed Country (LDC) list, said that this transition can be made sustainable through local innovation and youth leadership development.

Speakers at the seminar highlighted the importance of youth power in opening new horizons of cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal and expressed their commitment to work together.
