Sacrificial animal skins sold at record prices at Taqwa Mosque in Dhanmondi

This year, the sacrificial animal skins collected by the traditional Taqwa Mosque in Dhanmondi have been sold at a record price in a local tender. Each cow skin was sold for three hundred and seventy-two (1372) taka. A total of eight hundred and fifty-three skins were sold in this tender organized by the Taqwa Mosque Society. This money will be deposited in the mosque’s zakat fund, which will be spent on orphans and needy people, it is reported.

Five local leather buying organizations participated in the tender held on the premises of Taqwa Mosque on Wednesday (June 11, 2025) afternoon. Imex Leather Limited purchased the skins at the highest price. The price they paid was three hundred and seventy-two taka.

It is worth noting that this year, the government has set the price of each skin in Dhaka at three hundred and fifty taka (1350). The price obtained by selling in the tender is twenty-two (22) taka higher than the price fixed by the government. Hasan Sharif Siddiqui, Assistant Secretary of Taqwa Masjid Society, said, “The increase in the price of leather is a blessing for us. This money will be used to develop the infrastructure of the mosque.

If the income of the mosque increases, it will be possible to invest more in religious and social activities.” He said, “The way Taqwa Masjid Society has collected and preserved the sacrificial leather this time, other madrasas and mosques can follow in the future. If anyone feels the need, please contact us and we will help them in the future, InshaAllah.”

Those involved in the local leather industry are seeing this tender by Taqwa Masjid Society as a positive signal.

They say that this tender by Taqwa Masjid in Dhanmondi is not only an economic success, but also a shining example of increasing the income of religious institutions.
