Denmark and Bangladesh take a remarkable step to support an efficient and sustainable dairy production in Bangladesh

Dairy production is an important economic activity in Bangladesh, providing 3.6 million households with supplementary income. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure guidance and support to farmers to in-crease milk yield and performance.

On Monday (2 June, 2025) Mr. Christian Brix Møller, Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh, and Director General Dr. Md. Abu Sufiun, signed the Strategic Sector Cooperation project between Denmark and Bangladesh, on behalf of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and the Bangladesh Department of Livestock Services.

This initiative marks a new chapter in our journey toward a greener, safer, and more efficient dairy sector. The project aims to strengthen capacity building in Bangladesh’s livestock sector, with Danish experts providing training to the national livestock extension service. The focus areas include feed, animal health, biosecurity, and animal welfare in dairy production. Additionally, the project will engage all partners through training on food safety and residue control.

Launched on April 1, 2024, the project supports safe, efficient, and sustainable food production in Bangladesh by promoting food safety, encouraging the prudent use of antibiotics, and advancing efficient dairy practices. It is a collaborative effort between the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, the Department of Livestock Services, the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution, and the Directorate General of Drug Administration.
