British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke held an important and fruitful meeting with Mahfuz Alam, Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday (15 May 2025).
During the meeting, Mahfuz Alam briefed the High Commissioner on his various priority plans. He particularly highlighted the initiatives for reforming the media sector and the plan to enact a Journalist Protection Ordinance.
In addition, the meeting discussed various aspects of potential cooperation between the UK and Bangladesh in the fields of media, information technology and communications. Both sides expressed optimism about deepening and enhancing bilateral relations.
