Mohammad Hatem-led Progressive Knit Alliance wins full panel in BKMEA elections

The Progressive Knit Alliance led by Mohammad Hatem has won an absolute victory in the 2025-27 board of directors elections of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). The alliance won all 35 director posts in the elections held on Saturday (May 10).

Voting was held from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday (May 10, 2025) at two centers—BKMEA Bhaban in Chashara, Narayanganj, and BKMEA Dhaka office in Banglamotor, Dhaka. After the voting, the counting of votes was carried out at both centers.

Out of 572 voters, 431 exercised their right to vote, which is 75.35 percent of the total voters. Of these, 231 votes were cast in Dhaka center, of which 12 were canceled. On the other hand, 200 votes were cast in Narayanganj constituency and 11 were cancelled. A total of 408 valid votes were counted.

The election was conducted in Narayanganj constituency by Election Board Chairman Shafiullah Chowdhury, Member Obaidur Rahman and Appeal Board Member Mohammad Ayub. In Dhaka, Election Board Member Mohammad Shahjahan Siddiqui and Appeal Board Member Advocate Awlad Hossain were in charge.

A total of 38 candidates participated in this election, out of which 35 candidates from the Progressive NEET Alliance were initially declared winners.

The winning candidates in the election are: Mohammad Hatem, Belayet Hossain Ripon, Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid, Ashikur Rahman, M Isfaq Ahsan, Ahmed Nur Faisal, Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Md. Abdul Hannan, Mohsin Rabbani, Shahriar Saeed, Imran Quader Turya, Mohammad Shamsul Azam, Gauhar Siraj Jamil, Abdul Barek, Md. Jamal Uddin Mia, Md. Moniruzzaman, Md. Shamsuzzaman, Mohammad Rashed, Fazle Shamim Ehsan, Mansur Ahmed, Mamunur Rashid, Khandaker Saiful Islam, Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Md. Yasin, Rajib Chowdhury, Fawzul Imran Khan, Mohammad Zakaria Wahid, Md. Morshed Sarwar, Mohammad Selim, Minhajul Haque, Amal Poddar, Rakib Sobhan Mia, Salah Uddin Ahmed, Nanda Dular Saha and Ratan Kumar Saha.

The official results of the election were announced by the Chairman of the Election Board, Shafiullah Chowdhury, from the Narayanganj center.
