A coordination meeting was held on the occasion of the upcoming Buddha Purnima-2025 celebration regarding overall security, law and order and traffic management.
The coordination meeting was held on Thursday (08 May 2025) morning at the conference room of DMP Headquarters. The meeting was presided over by Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, ndc.


In his speech as the chairman of the coordination meeting, the DMP Commissioner said that all kinds of security measures have been taken by Dhaka Metropolitan Police on the occasion of the upcoming Buddha Purnima. All necessary measures have been taken by the DMP Traffic Department to keep traffic movement normal on the roads around various Buddhist monasteries during the event.
He also said that there will be adequate traffic arrangements on the routes along which the procession will circumambulate. The police will have CCTV, archways and metal detectors at the Buddha Purnima venue. Representatives of various Buddhist monasteries in Dhaka city, Buddhist religious leaders, representatives of various intelligence agencies, representatives of various specialized units of the police, representatives of Dhaka South and North City Corporations, Fire Service and Civil Defense, DPDC, WASA, Public Works and various government and private service providers were present in the coordination meeting.
At the beginning of the coordination meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah, PPM presented the overall security plan through a power point presentation. After that, representatives of various organizations present in the meeting participated in an open discussion and expressed their valuable opinions.
DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sarwar, PPM-Service, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S, N, Md. Nazrul Islam, PPM; Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim; Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, along with Joint Police Commissioners and Deputy Police Commissioners, police officers of various ranks, representatives of various concerned organizations, representatives of various Buddhist monasteries in Dhaka city, and religious leaders were present.
