Bangladesh Armed Forces have increased the number of camps to speed up rescue, relief operations and medical services to deal with the flood situation. At present, a total of 35 camps including 30 camps of the Army, 2 of the Navy, 1 of the Air Force and 2 of the Coast Guard are deployed in the flood-affected areas. Besides, the armed forces currently have 2,778 personnel, 98 boats and 9 helicopters providing rescue, relief operations and medical services.
In the last 24 hours (31 August 2024), a total of 50 flood-affected persons were rescued by the armed forces, 56,387 packets of food items and 1,150 cooked meals were distributed among the flood victims. Apart from this, a total of 8,686 people have been provided medical assistance today through temporary medical teams consisting of expert doctors of the armed forces. Meanwhile, the armed forces conducted rescue and relief distribution activities in the flood-affected areas through 14 helicopter sorties. It should be noted that the Bangladesh Army has continued to provide assistance to the Water Development Board in the reconstruction of the Gomti river dam in the responsible area of Comilla area. Bangladesh Navy today conducted relief distribution and medical service support activities among flood affected people of Feni and Bhola.
Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, BBP, OSP, GUP, NSWBC, PSC visited the flood-affected areas at Durgapur in Feni district on Saturday (31 August 2024). During the visit, he visited the medical campaign conducted by expert doctors of the Air Force in Durgapur and adjoining areas of Feni district and distributed relief to the flood victims.
