In a significant move to foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Bangladesh, four key institutions — the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) — signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) today (Wednesday, 9 April 2025).

The LoI was signed by Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of BIDA; Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce; Tuomo Poutiainen, Country Director of ILO Bangladesh; and Stefan Liller, Resident Representative of UNDP Bangladesh.
Under the agreement, the parties will work together to enhance trade and investment in Bangladesh while promoting employment generation, protecting labor rights, and ensuring economic inclusion. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and international partners to support Bangladesh’s journey toward a more resilient and inclusive economy.
