No security threat surrounding Pahela Baishakh celebration: Home Affairs Advisor

There is no security threat surrounding Bengali New Year, said Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

The Home Affairs Advisor made these remarks at a briefing after the meeting of the Advisory Council on the smooth celebration of Pahela Boishakh and law and order in the country at the conference room of the Home Ministry at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Cultural Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor on the Home Ministry Md. Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Home Ministry Nasimul Gani, and others were present at the time.

He also said that law enforcement agencies will be active around Chaitra Sankranti and Pahela Boishakh. There is no shortage of security measures.

Jahangir Chowdhury said that law enforcement agencies will be active in the country like during Ramadan and Eid. Flawless security measures have been taken for Pahela Boishakh.

He also said that necessary measures have been taken to ensure that security is not disrupted during the Mangal Shobhajatra.

In a briefing after the meeting, Culture Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui said that all ethnic groups of Bangladesh will participate in this year’s Pahela Boishakh. However, the name of the procession will be decided at a meeting of Dhaka University.

He said that after the meeting on April 10, Dhaka University will announce the name of the procession coming out of the Fine Arts Department. The advisor also said that the DMP will decide how long the program will last.
