Australia Supports Launch of 2024 Violence Against Women Survey in Bangladesh

Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner, Clinton Pobke, recently had the honor of addressing the launch of the 2024 Violence Against Women Survey, a significant initiative aimed at addressing gender-based violence in Bangladesh.

The landmark survey is the result of a collaborative effort between the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics and UNFPA Bangladesh, with funding from the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office. The survey also benefits from technical assistance provided by the University of Melbourne and Australia’s National Research Organization for Women’s Safety.

The findings of the 2024 Violence Against Women Survey are expected to play a vital role in shaping future public policies that promote gender equality and a safer environment for women and girls in Bangladesh. The survey is set to contribute to ongoing efforts to reduce violence and improve social support systems for victims.

Australia remains dedicated to empowering women and girls around the world, and this survey is one of the many steps toward creating a safer, more equitable society for all.
