Almost all garment factories in Gazipur have opened from Saturday (August 10) morning. The joint task force of the army has started working on the security of the factory. The leaders of the Factory Owners, Garment Exporters and Owners Association (BGMEA) say that they want to make the garment sector the number one position if factory safety is ensured.
Due to the agitation situation, the production in the factory was disrupted for a few days, but the situation has returned to normal, the garment industry has turned around. Initially, the owners started the factory with the help of their own security personnel and volunteers.
However, on Saturday (August 10), the task force formed under the leadership of Army Colonel Abu Mohammad Mohiuddin started working in various areas including Gazipur, Ashulia.
Factory owners say that hundreds of factories have been started in other industrial areas including Gazipur. The presence of workers is almost hundred percent. Army task force cell has been formed to ensure security of industries. Security has been beefed up with extensive patrolling by army personnel.
The managing director of Sparrow Apparels Limited factory, Shovon Islam, said, ‘The factory has been started since last Wednesday with the cooperation of BGMEA and the army task force. 81 percent of factories were open on Wednesday. Hundreds of factories were open on Thursday. Those who needed shipments remained open on Fridays. On Saturday too, BGMEA came to know about the news that 100% institutions are open and 100% attendance.
Head of Operations of Bunon and Director of Riyaz Garments Mr. Salahuddin, said through social media, “The owners of the garment industry are working shoulder to shoulder with the army, Alhamdulillah, today’s Gazipur. Now a completely beautiful environment has started to return to the garment industry.”
From Saturday (August 10), the Army has been camping in the industrial area for seven to eight patrols in each area during lunch time, holidays. Apart from this, the Industrial Police is also working.
