We were born in unity, unity is our strength: Chief Advisor

An all-party meeting was held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in the capital on Thursday (January 16) at the initiative of the interim government. The meeting was chaired by Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus with the aim of re-establishing the unity of the nation. He said in the meeting, “This government was born through unity, and unity is our strength. Unity is the key to the progress of the nation.”

Dr. Yunus also said, “Our journey began on the basis of unity. When we all work together, we gain courage and feel strength. The weakness felt when working alone is removed when we work together.”

Representatives of various political parties including BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Ganadhkar Mancha, Rashtra Sanskar Andolan, Gana Adhikar Parishad, Islami Andolan Bangladesh participated in the all-party meeting. However, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) abstained from participating in the meeting.

Dr. Yunus said, “By preparing the July Declaration, we want to showcase the unity and firmness of the nation to the world. It will brighten our image internationally and prove our unwavering position as a nation.”

Citing the example of the historic unity of August 5 in the meeting, the Chief Advisor said, “The whole feeling of that day was one of unity. If we can rebuild that day, the future of the country will be richer. It is not possible to do it alone; it is possible only through unity.”

It is worth noting that the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens’ Committee had set a deadline of January 15 for publishing the declaration of the July Mass Uprising. Later, it was decided to organize this meeting under the supervision of the Chief Advisor.

Dr. Yunus said, “I seek your prayers. As long as I am in charge, I will maintain this unity. Our goal now is to work together and convey the message of unity to the people of the country and the international community.”

The political parties participating in the meeting also expressed their support in this regard. Everyone expressed hope that the July Declaration would become a symbol of national unity through its finalization and publication.
