The first meeting of the Bangladesh-China Parliamentary Friendship Group of the 13th National Parliament emphasized the need to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, exchange visits of parliamentary delegations, and increase Chinese investment to reduce the trade deficit.
The meeting was held today, Tuesday (July 28, 2026) at the National Parliament Building under the chairmanship of Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, MP, President of the Bangladesh-China Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Committee members Md. Shahidul Islam, MP; Md. Hasan Rajib Prodhan, MP; Zaharat Adib Chowdhury, MP; Mahmuda Habiba, MP; Mohammad Nazibur Rahman, MP; Mohammad Mosleh Uddin Farid, MP, and Md. Abul Hasnat, MP participated in the meeting.
The meeting began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Then, the members’ introduction session and initial discussions were held.
During the discussion, the members highlighted various aspects of the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and China. At the same time, they exchanged views on the growing importance of China in the current geopolitical context and the prospects for cooperation between the two countries.
In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on making the Bangladesh-China strategic partnership more effective, as well as regular bilateral visits of parliamentary delegations and attracting more Chinese investment to reduce the trade deficit.
Senior officials of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at the time.
