Algerian Ambassador to Dhaka, Adelouahab Saidani, paid a courtesy call on Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin.
The courtesy call was held at the Trade Adviser’s office in the Secretariat on Sunday (05 January 2025) afternoon. During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral trade situation and trade prospects in detail.
Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin said that Bangladesh has long-standing relations with the brotherly country of Algeria. Religious values and cultural ties have strengthened this relationship. Through this, the relations between the people of the two countries will deepen.
Sheikh Bashiruddin said, we need to increase the scope of commercial cooperation. He described the increase in trade with Algeria as a new area of potential. At the same time, the advisor expressed interest in using the manpower of Bangladesh and using the land of Algeria to work in the development of agriculture (contract farming).
The Algerian ambassador said, there is a market for all Bangladeshi products, including garment products, in Algeria. Bangladesh should utilize the existing opportunities. He also said that Algerian businessmen are interested in investing in Bangladesh at this time.
The ambassador said, high-quality dates are imported from Algeria on the occasion of Ramadan. There is also an opportunity to increase trade in fertilizers and energy. At this time, the ambassador expressed interest in investing in the textile and pharmaceutical sectors in Bangladesh.
