At least 157 people have been killed in flash floods and landslides in Nepal. Another 403 are missing in the incident. Among the missing, 341 are foreign tourists and 62 are Nepalese tourists, the Nepal Tourism Board said.
On Wednesday (August 26, 2026), flash floods and landslides occurred in Rasua and several neighboring districts of the country’s central Bagmati province. The heavy flow damaged houses, roads, bridges and various infrastructure. The worst affected was the Rasua district bordering China.
According to the latest information from the Nepal Police, 157 bodies have been recovered from various areas affected by the floods and landslides. These bodies were recovered in various districts including Rasua, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahun and Nawalpur.
The missing tourists include 133 from India, 47 from the United States, 34 from Australia, 33 from the United Kingdom, 24 from Canada and 19 from Malaysia. In addition, citizens of Ukraine, South Africa, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, France and Spain are also missing.
