Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Thailand Wijayavat Isarabhakadi. In the meeting held in Bangkok on Friday (July 24, 2026) morning, both sides reiterated their commitment to further strengthen the relations between the two countries and expand cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
The Foreign Advisor participated in the meeting during a stopover in Bangkok after his visit to Manila, Philippines.
The meeting reviewed the overall issues of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Thailand, as well as discussed various ways to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, labor, tourism and people-to-people contacts.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the possibility of employment of about 10,000 Bangladeshi workers in Thailand after the necessary procedures are completed.
The Foreign Advisor sought Thailand’s continued support for Bangladesh’s inclusion as a sectoral dialogue partner in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). In response, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Thailand assured that his country’s constructive engagement in this regard would continue.
During the meeting, the Foreign Advisor, on behalf of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, invited the Thai Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.
The representatives of the two countries expressed the hope that such high-level dialogues would further strengthen the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Thailand in the future and create new opportunities for trade, investment, labor market, tourism and regional cooperation.
