Peter Holland, CEO of the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The meeting, held at the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat at 11:30 am on Monday (July 6, 2026), discussed various issues related to improving eye health services in Bangladesh, preventing blindness, reducing visual impairment, and strengthening mutual cooperation in this sector.
The meeting emphasized the coordinated efforts of the government and international partners to ensure quality and accessible eye health services for all in Bangladesh. At the same time, views were exchanged on implementing effective programs to prevent blindness, expanding the scope of services for visually impaired people, and further strengthening international cooperation in the eye health sector.
During the meeting, State Minister for Health Dr. M.A. Muhith was present.
In a briefing held at the Bangladesh Secretariat after the meeting, State Minister for Health Dr. M.A. Muhith and IAPB CEO Peter Holland highlighted various aspects of the meeting. They expressed their interest in working together to develop the eye health sector in Bangladesh and hoped to further expand cooperation in the future.
