Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MP, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh, said that the Parliament building was designed by the famous American architect Louis Kahn. Similarly, the eminent Bangladeshi-American structural engineer Fazlur Rahman Khan has made a unique contribution to the construction of American architecture. This mutual contribution proves that Bangladesh and America have literally helped each other build history.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh, said these words at the 250th Independence Day celebration of the United States organized by the American Embassy at the South Plaza of the National Assembly on Saturday (July 4, 2026).
The Deputy Speaker said that the historic ‘Concert for Bangladesh’ by the legendary American musician George Harrison, who stood by Bangladesh during the great Liberation War of 1971, is an unforgettable contribution. Today’s concert carries the same humanitarian and cultural spirit, which will shape not only trade or diplomacy, but also the relationship between the people of the two countries into a long-lasting partnership.
The Deputy Speaker said that in the current global context, there is a huge potential for cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States in various fields including diplomatic dialogue, increasing trade and investment, combating the adverse effects of climate change, renewable energy, counter-terrorism, maritime security, education, technology and human resource development. He expressed the hope that the existing partnership between the two countries will reach new heights in the future. He extended his sincere greetings and congratulations to the people and government of the United States on the occasion of the 250th Independence Day and expressed the hope that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United States will be stronger and more fruitful in the coming days.
At the time, he emphasized on further strengthening the long-standing friendly relations, mutual cooperation and future partnership between Bangladesh and the United States.
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Dr. Md. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, said, “Bangladesh and the United States have a long-standing relationship and Bangladesh is a tested friend of ours. The United States’ continued support and support in the humanitarian crisis of millions of Rohingya refugees taking refuge in Bangladesh is proof of this deep partnership.” We believe that this bilateral relationship, built on mutual interests and common goals and objectives, will be further strengthened in the future, where the United States’ continued contribution and joint commitment to the sustainable development of the two countries, regional stability, and the protection of democracy and human rights in the global arena will serve as the main driving force.”
Md. Nurul Islam Moni, MP, Chief Whip of the Bangladesh National Parliament, said that Bangladesh and the United States have a long-standing friendly cooperation in the fields of democracy, development, and bilateral relations. He expressed the hope that this cooperation will further expand in the future and will play an important role in further strengthening the democratic institutions of both countries. He said that organizing the celebration of the 250th anniversary of US independence in front of the iconic building of the National Parliament is a symbol of mutual trust, friendship, and democratic values of the two countries. This event is an important manifestation of the depth and mutual respect of Bangladesh-US relations.
