President Md. Shahabuddin has urged South Korea to further expand bilateral trade and investment in Bangladesh.
He made the call when the newly appointed South Korean Resident Ambassador to Bangladesh, Kim Ji-jun, presented his credentials to the President at Bangabhaban on Tuesday (June 9, 2026).
The President’s Press Secretary Sarwar Alam said that on the same day, the newly appointed Moroccan Ambassador to Bangladesh, Lalla Bouthaina El Kerdoudi El Koulali, also presented his credentials to the President.
When the two countries reached Bangabhaban, a well-equipped contingent of the Presidential Guard Regiment (PGR) provided them with a guard of honor.
First, the Moroccan Ambassador and then the South Korean Ambassador presented their credentials to the President. At this time, the President welcomed both the ambassadors to Bangladesh and wished them well in their new responsibilities.
In a meeting with the South Korean Ambassador, President Md. Shahabuddin said that South Korea is one of the largest investors in Bangladesh. He emphasized the need to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the two countries by increasing trade, investment and economic cooperation.
The President expressed hope that during the tenure of the new ambassador, the multidimensional relations between Bangladesh and South Korea will be further strengthened and new opportunities for cooperation in various areas of mutual interest will be created.
